All performances take place in the acoustically excellent Large Room, City Hall, Waterford which houses Waterford Music’s own Steinway Model C. This room was originally designed as a classic 18th century ballroom with lofty ceiling, decorative stucco work, crystal chandeliers, a musicians gallery and well proportioned windows. It evoked the grandeur and elegant living of the gentry and wealthy merchant classes of 18th century Waterford.
One of the earliest references to the ballroom was in 1792 when note is taken of the Mayor hosting a ball, the proceeds from which were to provide food and fuel for the poor of the city.
