VENUE

Unless otherwise noted, all performances take place in the Large Room, City Hall, Waterford, which is both acoustically excellent and houses Waterford Music’s own Steinway Model C piano.

The Large Room was originally designed as a classic eighteenth-century ballroom with lofty ceiling, decorative stucco work, crystal chandeliers, a musicians gallery and well proportioned windows. It evoked the grandeur and elegant living of the gentry and wealthy merchant classes of Georgian Waterford.  One of the earliest references to the ballroom was in 1792 when the mayor hosted a ball to raise funds to provide food and fuel for the poor of the city.

Directions

To access the large room, enter City Hall either through the main doors on The Mall, or via the Theatre Royal main entrance, go straight through foyer, then take the stairs or lift to Large Room.

On-street parking is scarce in this area. The best place to park is in Bolton Street Car Park, off Lombard Street and behind Waterford Crystal. City Hall is only a short walk from here. Parking fees are €1 per hour up to 6.30pm (pay&display/ pay by App or online – QR codes can be found on the side of the parking meter), and free thereafter.
